Wytham bluebells 2009

They were out in Wytham almost two weeks ago now but are still emerging in several woods.

Also in progress is compilation of the footage from my various trips. Below is a close up from Afon Tawe in the Brecons / Fforest Fawr

OFVM have now kindly lent me their smaller, dinkier, Sony HVR-A1E video camera. This will let me rove a bit more widely, with a lighter tripod, because these natural beauty spots are almost inevitably a half hour hike away from a road.

And here’s video from the Birling Gap seashore – this time not H.264 for the technically minded – but you do need Flash Player version 10 to see it.

Those lovely starlings

Last weekend was spent with oodles of cable, cameras and microphones, and at last some of the results are emerging. You’ll need a pretty recent version of the Flash Player to view this video below [technical details follow]

H.264 encoded for Flash from HD quality footage. I haven’t seen it at HD resolution myself yet – pending purchase of an HDTV or monitor! My brain is a mush of resolutions, camcorder settings, microphone inputs, codecs and javascript right now.

Meanwhile I ran another 7 miles around the University Parks this morning – crocuses all over the shop, quite stunning.

Flip-Flop Videos by Clare Carswell

Sunday, May 25th, 2008 by clare

flip-flop is a series of short videos by Clare Carswell made in the mobile phone whilst the artist is working on other projects. The portability and immediacy of the phone camera and software mean that ideas can be grabbed and realised in a few moments. The mobile phone takes on the aspect of a multi-media sketch-book with the phone functioning as a drawing tool. These videos can be shared with others via MMS or downloaded to the computer for further working and sharing over the internet.

Two of the flip-flop series will be projected at BEAM for the first time and are viewable here :
