Otmoor run

Otmoor run

Seven miles along the flat Otmoor paths. I’ve seen Otmoor from the heights of Beckley, laid out enticingly before me, on many long runs, but never dared tread within. On Sunday I finally made it, but not until 11am, by which time the green coated bird watchers had arrived in flocks. There’s a path that might circle the whole moor, which includes an RSPB reserve, but I had to give up when faced with a large boggy patch about 10 metres long. Weak, I know, but I’m not yet fully running fit, so goodness knows what my soft feet would have made of the immersion. Plus there were worrying red flags up warning of an MOD rifle range in action.

I did feel a bit naughty, running along in a blue top, alongside all the heavily camaflouged slowly moving nature lovers with their enormous scopes. I’m sure I was pretty quiet though. Running wise I’m up to 24 miles in a week, this week I’ll be up to 30, then 40 and I’ll gradually up it to 50 miles per week over a month. I’m still taking this recovery very slowly.

Dry Sandford and transported again

Dry Sandford Pit Nature Reserve

Fenland grasses at Dry Sandford Pit Nature Reseve, out filming at the weekend. It’s a great potential recording location for early mornings – woods nearby and about as far from A roads as it’s possible to get in Oxfordshire, ie 3 miles.

I’m off out performing Transporter Mix again today – at the Art, Transformation and Change Symposium at the Littlemore Mental Health Centre, taking my trays of soil, turf and shingle, and audio soundscapes.
